First-ever Esports academy set to be opened in Madhya Pradesh to increase presence in Olympics & Asian Games

The Esports industry is increasingly becoming very renowned in India, where there are several competitions with sizable prize pools and frequent events. Recent reports indicate that one state has made substantial efforts to concentrate on esports.

The Madhya Pradesh sports department recently revealed that India’s first “Online Gaming Academy” will open early next month, according to Times Of India. This gaming academy is named as the “MP State Esports Academy” by the state government. For all BGMI players in the state, it additionally revealed the MP State Junior Esports Championship.

The most promising esports prodigy for the “MP State Esports Academy” will be chosen by the Madhya Pradesh Department of Sports and Youth Welfare at the BGMI competition. 80% of the places in the ultimate selection are set aside for players from Madhya Pradesh under the registration regulations. However, 20% of the participants will come from other states in the union.

Huge emphasis on esports players

The “selected esports athletes” will receive “intensive coaching” as well as “top quality esports education” from the government for free for a full year. The “esports education” as well as the coaches who would instruct the esports players have not been discussed by the Madhya Pradesh government.

Yashodhara Raje Scindia, the state’s minister of sports, reportedly said that Madhya Pradesh is now a centre for sports. India having “a representation in the Asian Games and Olympics” is the primary “objective” of the Esports Academy. Madhya Pradesh is seriously interested in assisting young people in pursuing their passions through the MP State Esports Academy. 

The state government has also launched a Break Dance academy for the kids in addition to esports. Scindia thinks that these institutes will support young people in turning their passions into careers. Gamers will be hopeful that various other states emulate MP’s example as well because this is undoubtedly fantastic news for India.
