Croatia locked horns with Canada on 27 November 2022 in Khalifa International Stadium. It was a Group F game of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Croatia were coming off after a goalless draw with Morocco. On the other hand, Canada were coming off after a 1-0 loss against Belgium. So, both teams were looking for a win in this match.

However, before this clash, Morocco managed to defeat Red Devils by 2-0. So, after that historical result, both teams were looking to strengthen their position in the table. Fans were also set for a good match between these sides. Big-name players Luka Modric and Alphonso Davies were in action in this clash.   

Croatia defeated Canada by 4-1 in FIFA World Cup 2022

Speaking of the match, Canada had a blistering start to the game. In the second minute only, Alphonso Davies broke the deadlock with a thumping header. Tajon Buchanan whipped a beautiful cross into the penalty box. Then, Davies managed to head that ball into the goal for Canada. However, it was the first-ever goal for Canada in the history of the World Cup. Then, Croatia came up with quick responses.

In the 26th minute, they also scored an equalizer. But, the referee ruled it out as an offside. Andrej Kramaric scored the goal. But, during the build-up, his striking partner, Marco Livaja was not in an onside position. But, Andrej Kramaric did not make a mistake again as he finally the much-needed goal for Croatia in the 36th minute. Ivan Perisic provided a beautiful assist. Then, Marco Livaja scored the second goal for Croatia in the 44th minute. Josip Juranovic came up with the assist in that goal. Thus, the first half ended 2-1.

In the second half, Croatia were looking to add more goals. In the 54th minute, Kramaric had a huge chance to score a brace. But, Canada goalkeeper, Milan Borjan denied it as he came up with a fantastic save. After that, Kramaric scored his second goal in the 70th minute while Perisic produced another assist. Then, Lovro Majer scored the fourth goal in the 90+4′ minute and thus, Croatia defeated Canada with a scoreline of 4-1.
