One of the biggest days in the Indian Premier League history is here as it is the 2024 IPL retention deadline day. Teams have been thinking long and hard regarding the best players that would stay with the squad for another season. Some players might not fit the bill for the franchises and would be released.
Today, by 4 P.M, all the franchises need to put the players that they have traded with other franchises. The sides also need to release a list of players that they are retaining from the previous season at the same price. The players that are not retained by the franchise would then be available for purchase during the auction next month.
Three trades have been completed and announced by the Indian Premier League. Devdutt Padikkal has joined the Lucknow Super Giants while Avesh Khan has joined Rajasthan Royals in one of the trades.
Meanwhile, yesterday Mayank Dagar joined 2016 runner-up Royal Challengers Bangalore, with Shahbaz Ahmed joining Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second trade. In an all-cash trade, Romario Shepherd was purchased by the Mumbai Indians earlier this month.
Another trade might go through later today and it is also going to be an all-cash deal. For the third time in the history of the Indian Premier League, a captain is going to be traded between franchises. Mumbai Indians set to welcome back their homegrown star Hardik Pandya for a whopping INR 15 crores.
