‘Everybody is proud of what you did’ – Kylian Mbappe’s tweet for Achraf Hakimi goes viral after their semi-final encounter
France’s Kylian Mbappe celebrated his team’s FIFA World Cup semi-final victory over Morocco on Thursday.
France’s Kylian Mbappe celebrated his team’s FIFA World Cup semi-final victory over Morocco on Thursday, but he was quick to console his good friend and Paris Saint-Germain teammate, Achraf Hakimi. The Atlas Lions were defeated 2-0 by the defending champions, setting up a final against Argentina.
France advanced to its fourth World Cup final in seven tournaments thanks to an early goal from left-back Theo Hernandez and a late second from Randal Kolo Muani, ending Morocco’s dream run. After the game, Mbappe went to console his club teammate and Morocco star Hakimi, who was instrumental in his country’s dream World Cup run.
Mbappe and Hakimi exchanged jerseys, and Mbappe hugged Hakimi. Mbappe later tweeted to congratulate Hakimi on making “history,” adding that everyone is proud of him. “Don’t be sad bro, everybody is proud of what you did, you made history,” Mbappe tweeted.
The 23-year-old Mbappe wore Hakimi’s No. 2 jersey and joined the rest of his team in celebrating their victory. While wearing Kylian Mbappe’s iconic No.10 jersey, Hakimi congratulated his teammates on their incredible run in the tournament.

Mbappe, who has five goals in the tournament so far, had a hand in both French goals, including the second, which he created with a dribble and shot that was deflected into the path of an unmarked substitute Kolo Muani, who slotted home from close range.
Morocco, the first African team to reach a World Cup semi-final, fought hard and was cheered on by a mostly red and green-clad crowd. France has reached the final for the fourth time in seven editions, and if they win on Sunday at Lusail Stadium, they will be the first team to do so since Brazil in 1962.
Morocco did not win the semi-final, but they won the hearts of football fans all over the world with their remarkable and impressive performance throughout the tournament. Along with this, Mbappe and Hakimi’s friendship has piqued the interest of fans.
