The fifth match of the Emirates D20 Tournament saw Emirates Blues square up against Ajman in a one-sided affair. Emirates Blues defeated Ajman by 66 runs in the fifth game of the Emirates D20 League. Choosing to field first, the Ajman had put a lot of faith in their batters but the match did not turn out as they had hoped it would. Playing at International Cricket Academy, Dubai, the Emirates Blues opened their innings with Aryan Lakra and Fahad Nawaz.

The start of their batting innings however did not go as planned with them losing their first wicket in the second over itself. The Emirates Blues captain, Alishan Sharafu walked in next to solidify the innings and that’s what he did. Wickets however continued to fall from the other end. In the very next over, the other opener, Aryan was caught and bowled by Sultan Ahmed.

The captain however remained planted on the crease and continued to move the scoreboard. The wicket-keeper batter Ateeq Ur Rehman with  Adithya Shetty supported the captain to get Emirates Blues to a defendable 131/8. Captain Sharafu scored 53 off of 43 balls with five fours and one six and was the top scorer for the team. Essam Muti ur Rab took three wickets from the Ajman side.

Chasing, 132, the Ajman team had a good start in the first over having made 8 runs in it. The very next over, however, the opener Hameed Khan knicked a ball into the keeper’s gloves off of Rahul Bhatia’s ball. From then on, the team never looked like chasing the total and faltered at a measly score of 65/10. The opener Sandeep Singh with 19 and Dawood Ejaz with 15 off of 10 were the highest scorers for the team.
