Emirates D20 2022: Match 17 & 18- Review

The Emirates D20 League 2022 is on course to break all viewership records of the past. With teams playing some highly competitive games, it is no wonder the popularity of the tournament is rising.

The last two matches i.e. Emirates Blues vs Dubai and Ajman vs Fujairah some some exciting cricket. Let’s look at how the teams fared in these matches.

Match 17: Emirates Blues vs Dubai

After winning the toss, the Emirates Blues decided to bat first in hopes of setting a good total on the board. However, they could only muster 148 runs on the board.  Aryansh Sharma top scored with 35 off 27 balls.

Dubai, in reply, chased the target with three balls remaining. Skipper, Rameez Shahzad played a master-class knock of 44 runs off just 23 balls. With this win, Dubai registered their first win but still sit at sixth position, whereas Emirates Blues have dropped down to fifth spot.

Match 18: Ajman vs Fujairah

In the 18th match, the table-toppers met fifth-placed team Ajman. After winning the toss, the Fujairah team decided to field first. Batting first, the Ajman team was able to make 159/6 with notable contributions from most of the batters. Sagar Kalyan was their highest run-scorer with 37 off of 31 balls.

Chasing what looked like a decent total, the Fujairah team lost wickets at regular intervals. Captain Muhammad Waseem with 34(29) and Umair Ali with 34(29) fought hard but eventually failed to achieve the target.

Nav Pabreja took three important wickets of Fujairah and was instrumental in their win. Fujairah, however, still sit at the top with 10 points from six games and Ajman move to the fourth with six points.
