Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first on a tricky pitch at the M.A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Marco Jansen was able to scalp the two openers during the powerplay which gave South Africa the momentum. Iftikhar Ahmed, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan all received starts.

Even Shadab Khan and Saud Shakeel made a good settlement at the crease. However, all of them were able to give away their wickets cheaply. None of their batters were able to register more than 52 in their innings.  Pakistan got 270 runs on the board but were ultimately bowled out within the 47th over.

Shakeel and Shadab appeared to be aiming for 300 with ease at one point when they were batting effectively. It is reasonable to suppose that they are easily 30 to 40 runs short as a result.

With a four-fer, Tabraiz Shamsi stole the show, and Marco Jansen chipped in with a three-fer. This made sure that Pakistan would not be able to escape at all. Temba Bavuma, the captain, made the perfect adjustments, and they would end up going for a very manageable score.

In reply, Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma started off well but gave away their starts cheaply. Rassie Van der Dussen started off well and had a decent partnership with Aiden Markaram. However, two quick wickets of Van der Dussen and Henrich Klassen

Together, Aiden Markram as well as David Miller gave the squad some stability when it mattered most. In order to deny Pakistan the game, the stand was essential. In this run chase, the pair’s 70 off 69 balls was their highest partnership.

They were poised to increase this total significantly. Three wickets near the total, though, fueled the game even more. Despite playing brilliantly for ninety-one, Aiden Markram’s wicket gave the Pakistani squad hope. Pakistan fast bowlers scalped the eighth and ninth wicket to make the match even more interesting.

Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj kept their cool to win the game for South Africa. South Africa won the game with one wicket remaining. Pakistan have now lost four games in a row which is a call for concern.
