In the 29th game of the ongoing IPL 2023, Chennai Super Kings hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chepauk. Ahead of the game, the 2016 winners were coming off a loss against Mumbai Indians at home. On the other hand, CSK beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high-scoring game in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, in the game, the home team won the toss and elected to bowl first.

With the bat, the Orange Army lost the wicket of Harry Brook (18) who had just about started to go well in the fifth over. The likes of Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi put together 36 runs for the second wicket and were going well at 71/1 in 9.1 overs. However, after the former’s wicket, the team’s batting went downhill, and couldn’t accelerate the innings.

In the end, the former champions, Sunrisers ended up getting 134/7. For the Yellow Brigade, former skipper Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets. On the other hand, Matheesha Pathirana, Akash Singh, and Maheesh Theekshana took one wicket each.

In reply, the four-time winners got off to a great start as Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad put together 87 runs in 11 overs. The latter scored 35 off 30 balls before getting out in the most unfortunate manners. Apparently, he got run out as Umran Malik tried to stop a drive from Conway. The ball trickled off to the stumps with Gaikwad caught out of the crease.

After this, the scoring rate slowed down as the ball wasn’t coming on the bat very well. In both innings, the older ball was gripping off the surface. Meanwhile, the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, and Ambati Rayudu got out to Mayank Markande. In the end, Moeen Ali and Conway ensured that the team reached the target in 18.4 overs and won by seven wickets.
