Virat Kohli has found his rhythm in Test cricket after struggling with poor form for the longest time. The former Indian skipper has not scored a century in the longest format of the game since November 2019. However, he now looks on track to get big runs in the 4th match of the Test series between India and Australia.

Coming into bat at the brink of tea break on Day 3, Virat survived a few half chances, but made the most out of the second opportunity. Virat scored a well-deserved half-century in the match as he stayed unbeaten on 59 runs in 128 balls at the end of Day 3.

Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green both scored centuries earlier in the game. Khawaja scored 180 runs, while the all-rounder (114 runs) scored his first Test century. The Baggy Greens batted for nearly two days, scoring 480 runs in the first three innings. Ravichandran Ashwin’s six-wicket spell was India’s only saving grace with the ball.

Following that, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on a 74-run opening stand. While Rohit played a few good shots, he couldn’t hold on much longer as Matthew Kuhnemann took his wicket for a team score of 74. Gill, on the other hand, cruised through his innings. He shared a crucial 113-run stand with Cheteshwar Pujara.

The opener quickly reached his half-century, but the boundaries dried up after that. Before Gill’s back-to-back boundaries in his 80s, India had gone nearly 16 overs without scoring a boundary. He then shifted gears quickly to complete his second Test century.

While Pujara (42 runs in 121 balls) showed some persistence, Todd Murphy ended his innings on the verge of the Tea Break. On Day 4, the home team will resume with a score of 289/3, trailing by 191 runs. Currently, Virat (59 runs in 128 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (16 runs in 54 balls) are in the middle.
