‘Dhoni betrayed him’- Fans frustrated with Chennai franchise as they release Dwayne Bravo for the next edition of Indian T20 League
The Chennai franchise announced their list of all the released and retained players on Tuesday ahead of the mini-auction, slated to take place next month. In a big delight for the fans, the franchise has managed to convince Jadeja to continue playing for the Yellow Army. The Indian all-rounder will don the yellow jersey in the next season while MS Dhoni will continue to lead the team.
Along with Ravindra, Chennai have continued to put faith in Ambati Rayudu, who didn’t have the best of the seasons for Chennai last year. He managed to score 276 runs at an average of 24.91. Besides, the likes of Moeen Ali, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, etc. have also retained their spots in the squad.
Among all the retentions, there have been a few notably omissions as well. The biggest name which has been released by Chennai is Dwayne Bravo. The West Indies all-rounder has been released from the squad and it has left a lot of fans shocked.
Chennai’s decision on releasing the veteran left the fans frustrated. Here’s a look at some reactions on the same:

Bravo has been a consistent performer for the franchise for a number of years. Last season, he picked 16 wickets in 10 matches and is the highest wicket-taker in the history of the Indian T20 League. However, the franchise, perhaps, has lost confidence in his abilities and the West Indies cricketer will find himself at the auction pool on 23rd November 2022 in the mini-auction.
Chennai endured a disastrous campaign in the last edition of the tournament. The Yellow Army handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the start of the season but it didn’t work out as expected. MS Dhoni, later, took over the leadership duties but it made little difference in the performance of the team.
MS Dhoni and his Men failed to reach the knockouts and finished at second from the bottom of the table. It will be interesting to see how they fare in the upcoming season.
