‘Demolition job’ – Twitter goes berserk as Lucknow humiliate Kolkata
Kolkata have now lost seven out of their 11 games
Lucknow and Kolkata locked horns in the 53rd game of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. The Men In Purple and Gold won the toss and elected to bowl first. They started well as they dismissed the Lucknow skipper KL Rahul (0) for a diamond duck in the first over. He was unfortunately run out. However, the Lucknow-based franchise managed to recover from the early jolt.
Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda stitched a partnership of 71 runs in 6.3 overs. The partnership ended after the keeper-batter (50) was caught at long-off by Shivam Mavi off Sunil Narine. Hooda played well for his 41 off 27 balls but was caught at midwicket by Iyer in the 13th over of the innings.
Krunal Pandya struggled during his 27-ball 25 as he hit only two fours and was caught at deep point by Aaron Finch off Russell’s bowling. Ayush Badoni also struggled with the bat during his unbeaten 18-ball 15. The likes of Marcus Stoinis (28 off 14) and Jason Holder (13 off 4) took the team to 176/7. Andre Russell was the pick of the bowlers with 2/22 in three overs. On the other hand, Narine and Tim Southee picked one wicket each, and were economical, to say the least.
In reply, the two-time winners had a horrendous start to their innings with the bat. Baba Indrajith (0) was caught at square leg by Badoni in the first over. In the fourth over, Badoni took his second catch of the game at the same place as Shreyas Iyer (6) was dismissed by Dushmantha Chameera. In the next over, Finch (14) was caught behind by de Kock off Holder.
Nitish Rana (2) followed in the next over as Avesh Khan got the better of him, and cleaned him up. Rinku Singh (6) and Andre Russell stitched a partnership of 44 runs before the former was caught at deep midwicket by Pandya off Ravi Bishnoi. Russell scored 45 off 19 balls before he was taken at short third man by Holder off Khan’s bowling. This meant that the team went from 85/6 to 101 all-out with Sunil Narine scoring 22 off 12. Thus, the Kolkata-based franchise lost the game by 75 runs and thus, suffered a humiliating loss. They have now lost seven out of their 11 games.

Even with their lead player, skipper getting out for a duck, this is a huge victory. Dominating every bit of it and the highest win margin this season @LucknowIPL ðŸ‘#LSGvsKKR #IPL2022

Andre Russell and Sunil Narine – KKR has two of the greatest T20 players.
But instead of giving them proper support, they are asked to carry the team in batting and bowling almost every time. We didn't even build a decent squad this time around, really feel bad for both of them! pic.twitter.com/2o8sb5AoVG

Disappointed with CSK’s , KKR’s and MI’s performance this season…. Simply can’t believe that they are the most successful teams in the history of IPL. #IPL2022

Brilliant night for @LucknowIPL. They will now finish most probably in the top two. Could well be the strongest in the Playoffs #LSGvsKKR #IPL

Andre russell is the true paragon of an outright executant game-finisher, entertainer. It ain't a cinch by comin to bat at 5/6 and mop up the bowlers to go perspire, while forging a momentum towards the rusty team. That's definitely a knights thing from the big man. Applause ðŸ‘
