Dale Steyn gives a befitting reply to a fan saying ‘Bumrah is better than you’

Former South African pacer Dale Steyn gave a befitting reply to a Twitter user who said that India’s pacer Jasprit Bumrah is better than the former. This happened after Steyn took to Twitter to post a picture of him holding a giant fish. In that picture, he asked the fans if they wanted to see more pictures like this.

The picture was captioned “Get on the gram if you wana see more of this or wana win big in my second last post… Instagram DaleSteyn”. In the comment section, a user replied that India’s lead pacer Bumrah is better than him. However, the legend agreed while reminding the user that he is retired from the game. 

 

Earlier this year, the 38-year-old retired from all forms of the game. The last time he played for his national side was in February 2020, during a T20I game against Australia in Johannesburg. Talking about his final appearance in the longest format of the game, the Phalaborwa-born player played his last Test in 2019. The former right-arm pacer made his international debut in 2004, in a Test match against England. From 2004 to 2019, he played 93 games and took 439 wickets, averaging 22.95 and striking at 42.3.

Notably, he is the highest wicket-taker for South Africa in Tests. Talking about his ODI career, he made his debut against Asia XI while playing for Africa XI in 2005. From 2005 to 2019, he played 125 games and took 196 wickets. His bowling average and strike rate are 25.95 and 31.9 respectively. He has an economy of 4.87 in this format. When it comes to T20s, the speedster has played 228 games, including the 47 T20Is for his nation. As far as his overall numbers in T20s are concerned, he has picked 263 wickets. Currently, he is working as a fast bowling coach for Hyderabad in the Indian T20 League 2022.

Talking about Jasprit Bumrah, he made his international debut in an ODI game against Australia in 2016. Bumrah also made his T20I debut against the same opponents. Since then, he has played 70 ODIs and 29 T20Is and has 113 and 67 wickets respectively. In 2018, the right-arm pacer made his Test debut and has played 29 red-ball matches. In these games, he has picked 123 wickets.
