The most popular athlete in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo is a force to be reckoned with in the sport of Football. He took Manchester United as well as Real Madrid to Champions League glory and also won the European Championship with Portugal. With other 100s of individual awards, the Manchester United player is a synonym of football to many.

Currently a little past his prime, the 37-year-old has dropped a bombshell on his current employer Manchester United by asking for a transfer out. Multiple reports suggest that the Portuguese wants to leave the Manchester club in England despite the arrival of new coach Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo came to Manchester United from Juventus in 2021 for a transfer fee of £12.85 million. The forward has since then scored 24 goals in all competitions and also surpassed 100 goals in the Premier League. His second Manchester United stint however is still considered disappointing as he was not able to win anything with the Manchester United team.

He could not achieve similar feats as he did with United in his first stint from 2003-2009. In that period, he won three Premier League and a Champions League along with a myriad of individual trophies.

The Portuguese then moved to Real Madrid for a world-record transfer fee and played at the peak of his career for nine years. At Real Madrid, he won four Champions League and two La Liga along with other trophies as well. Since then, he has failed to achieve similar feats.

After the reports of his transfer request, Manchester United have come up and said that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale and would be an instrumental figure in new coach Erik ten Hag’s team. Meanwhile, teams like Chelsea who are without a striker after Romelu Lukaku’s move to Inter as well as Bayern Munich who would be with Robert Lewandowski are circling the player for a potential move.

Manchester United meanwhile are scheduled to go to Thailand for a pre-season tour.
