India wicketkeeper batter KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan had a competition among them to make it into the WTC final playing XI. However, with the nature of the game and the former doing well with the gloves, he was preferred. Meanwhile, in the ongoing WTC final, Bharat has taken two catches. The first one was of the highest run-getter in the 2021-23 cycle for the Aussies, Usman Khawaja early.

With only five-odd minutes before the Lunch break in the ongoing Day One, Bharat took a catch down the leg side. David Warner tried to help the ball from Shardul Thakur on its way to Fine leg. However, the ball catches the batter’s gloves and was dying away from the wicketkeeper. In the end, the Andhra Pradesh player took the catch to send back Warner.

Meanwhile, ahead of the ongoing game, the youngster spoke to the Apex Council’s presenter. He said that during the IPL 2023, former India skipper MS Dhoni and himself had a conversation about how to keep wickets in England.

“Recently during the IPL I had a word with Mahendra,” Bharat told the Apex Council in an interview with Sanjana Ganesan at The Oval.

“He (talked about) his experiences keeping in England as well as what would work the best for any wicket-keeper.

“It was a very good conversation and there were a lot of insights from that.”

“It’s the awareness – the best example is MS Dhoni, the awareness he has in keeping is outstanding,” Bharat added.

“You need intent and passion to be a keeper, because keeping is a thankless job. You keep 90 overs in a Test day and you have to be concentrating ball by ball, so you have to accept the challenges and embrace it and be really passionate about contributing to the team.”
