The 19th match in the Caribbean Premier League was played between Barbados Royals and Jamaica Tallawahs at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. Tallawahs captain Rovman Powell won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision to bowl first was further vindicated by the spinner Imad Wasim as he removed openers Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Mayers cheaply with only 17 runs on the board. Wasim, further, removed Corbin Bosch for a duck and left the Royals reeling at 17/3.

Royals lost another wicket in the form of Azam Khan which left them in a precarious situation at 47/4 after 9.2 overs. Seeing their team in trouble, Quinton De Kock and captain David Miller got together at the crease and formed a partnership of 83 runs for the fifth wicket.

Their partnership took the Royals to a respectable total of 146 after their allotted 20 overs. De Kock scored a magnificent 74 off 43 balls, smashing seven fours and three sixes in his innings. Imad Wasim was the pick of the bowlers from Tallawahs, who picked up three wickets for 14 runs in his three overs.

The Tallawahs chase got off to a great start with the openers Brandon King and Amir Jangoo adding 53 runs in just 4.3 overs. Courtesy of this fiery start, Tallawahs were 95/1 after 10 overs. After losing his opening partner, King continued to attack the Royals’ bowlers and put them under pressure.

After 17 overs with the score on 126/5, the rain came and played spoilsport. Tallawahs, further, required 20 runs off the last three overs. The play couldn’t continue after that and the Tallawahs were declared the winners of the match as they were six runs ahead of the DLS par score. As a result, they won the match by five wickets. Imad Wasim was declared ‘Player of the match’ for his outstanding bowling.
