India defeated Sri Lanka in the final of the 2023 Asia Cup and won the tournament. Before the tournament, India was one of the favorites to win the tournament. In their campaign, India lost only one match against Bangladesh. India had almost a perfect tournament, as they had a lot of match-winners for them against different opponents in the tournament.

In the final, Mohammad Siraj turned out to be their biggest hero. In a tournament where the pacer did not have a huge role to play, Siraj got an opportunity to win the match for his team almost all by himself. The bowling of the pacer was simply exceptional, which gave a huge lead to the Indian team on the big day. The batters had no answers to the Indian pacer.

In his 7 overs, Siraj bowled a maiden over, conceded only 21 runs, and claimed 6 wickets. For his amazing performance in the match, the Indian pacer got the Player of the Match award in the final. The pace bowler was awarded with a cash price of $5000, which he gave to the ground staff in an amazing gesture. The move of Siraj was praised by all the fans.

The Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav won the Player of the Series for his exceptional performance throughout the series. The chinaman spinner claimed a four-wicket haul and a five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively in the tournament.

Yadav got a cash prize of $15,000. Sri Lanka got a cash prize of $75,000 for ending the tournament as the runner ups. The home side received the award for huge appreciation from the crowd. India got a cash prize of $1,50,000 for winning the tournament. Godfrey Dabrera, the national curator of the Sri Lankan cricket, received the Sri Lanka Cricket Ground Staff award with a cash prize of $15,000.
