India and Australia clashed against each other in the first Test of the four-match Test series on February 9 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The Men in Blue defeated the Kangaroos by an inning and 132 runs in just three days. In the second innings, Australia completely surrendered to the spinning pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Team India is now 1-0 ahead in the 4-Test series.
Amidst all this today, star allrounder Jadeja was fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the apex cricket body’s Code of Conduct during the first Test against Australia. During the match, Jadeja was seen applying a soothing cream on his index finger. The officials said that one demerit point has been added to Jadeja’s disciplinary record. The incident happened during the 46th over of Australia’s first innings on February 9.
“Ravindra Jadeja was found to have breached Article 2.20 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to displaying conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game,” the apex cricket body said in a release.

Talking about the match, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first, however, the visiting team scored only 177 runs in the first innings, Jadeja, who was making his comeback in an international match after 5 months due to an injury, took 5 wickets. In response, Team India scored 400 runs in their first innings.
During the Indian batting, captain Rohit Sharma smashed a magnificent hundred and departed after scoring 120 runs, allrounder Axar Patel who wasn’t able to pick any wickets in this match, scored 84 runs after taking a fifer Jadeja showed his batting ability and scored 70 runs. India got a lead of 223 runs in the first innings. But as soon as Team India started bowling in the second innings, the Kangaroo team succumbed. Ashwin and Jadeja completely destroyed the Australian batting in the second innings as well.
