IPL 2024
‘Genius’ – Twitter goes berserk as Jos Buttler smashes 26 off Basil Thampi
Rajasthan’s opening batter Jos Buttler came into bat in a different mood against his former ITL side, Mumbai. Both teams are currently locking horns at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Buttler has played some of the finest knocks against the five-time winners since joining the inaugural winners in 2018. This time around, he unleashed his skills on an uncapped Indian pacer Basil Thampi.
Thampi came into bowl his first over when the Men in Pink and Blue were 17/1 after three overs. They lost the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal (1) as he was caught by Tim David off Jasprit Bumrah. In the fourth over of the innings and Thampi’s first, the wicketkeeper-batter from England changed his gears. The over started with a dot ball.
However, what followed was absolute carnage and demoralizing over for the bowler. The right-hander hit a four over mid-on to start the proceedings. The 2019 World Cup winner then hit two back-to-back sixes with one over long-on and one over midwicket respectively. The over ended with a four and a six respectively, making it a 26-run over.
Buttler went on to score his second hundred of the Indian T20 League. He hit his first hundred against Hyderabad during the Indian leg of the 2021 season. The Taunton born, alongside his skipper Sanju Samson (30) stitched a partnership of 82 runs for the third wicket.
A blazing inning of 35 off 14 balls by Shimron Hetmyer helped Rajasthan post 193-8. Buttler was the top scorer with 100 of 68 balls.
This is how Twitter reacted
Buttler showing why he’s the best around. He knows who he needs to see off and who to absolutely destroy. Then when he’s fully in the zone he’ll destroy the guy he saw off too. Genius

After a tough winter in test cricket for England fans, there's just something so therapeutic about watching Jos Buttler absolutely tonk a white ball.

Astonishing thing about Jos Buttler is He will score the 40s or 50s at such a rapid pace and You wouldn't even notice until he raises the bat. Makes it look very effortless and easy.
