The 27-year-old Indian batter Shreyas Iyer’s struggles with the short-ball is no more a hidden fact. He faced problems with the short ball in the Indian T20 League 2022 and in the series against South Africa. His struggle hasn’t ended in the rescheduled fifth Test against England either.

Shreyas Iyer could score only 15 and 19 in the fifth Test against England. The Mumbai-based batter had to face the trolls over social media for his problems against the short ball. He fell prey to a short ball bowled by young English pacer Matthew Potts during the second inning of India.

Low strings continue for Shreyas Iyer, fans trolled on Twitter

Many experts, including the likes of Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev came up with suggestions for Shreyas Iyer. Some of the experts have also questioned his technique against the short balls. Shreyas Iyer made his first Test appearance for the Indian team against New Zealand in a home series.

He impressed everyone with his stellar performances throughout the entire series against the visitors in November 2021. Since his debut in Test cricket, Iyer has played 4 Tests excluding the ongoing rescheduled fifth Test against England. Batting in 7 innings of these 4 matches, the right-hander has scored 388 runs with an average of 55.42, including a century and three half-centuries to his name.

Speaking of the reactions from the cricket fans on his current performances, some of the users went on to troll him badly. Following this last Test match against England, Iyer will be seen in action during the limited-overs series against the hosts.
