The once leader of the Indian pace attack, Umesh Yadav is playing for Kolkata in the Indian T20 League 2022. He is bowling some fiery spells with the new ball in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. He is wreaking havoc in the top order of the opposition’s batting order. In the Indian T20 League 2022, he has already picked up 4 wickets and all of them have come with the new ball in the powerplay overs.

In the opening match of the tournament against Chennai, he picked up the two openers and gave them a setback from which Chennai never recovered. He continued his wonderful form against Bangalore in the second match. Even though Kolkata lost the clash against Bangalore, the 34-year-old Indian pacer did not fail to pick up wickets at the beginning of the innings. He grabbed the prized scalp of Virat Kohli and left Bangalore reeling at the very start of their innings.

His wonderful bowling has mighty impressed the Head Coach of the franchise, Brendon McCullum. The veteran Kiwi batter was heaping praises on the Indian pacer in a post-match conversation with the media.

“Umesh Yadav has been simply outstanding. I was lucky enough to play with Umesh when I was still playing the game back then and I knew how good a bloke he was and how much of a talent he was, especially with the new ball if there was assistance,”-said McCullum.

McCullum also highlighted the fact that even though the pacer is at the latter stages of his career he is still fit and hungry. “I know he is closer to the end of his career. But he is still incredibly fit, very very driven and we see him as a huge asset for us, especially in the early stages of the tournament when the ball is swinging and seaming,”- the Head Coach of Kolkata further added.
