Most of these injuries could have been easily avoided.

The 20-20 World Cup got off to a sensational start as the Asia Cup 2022 winners, Sri Lanka were given a thumping defeat by Namiba in the curtain-raiser match.

With the Super 12 still a couple of days away, all top eight teams, including India are looking to keep their players fit and thwart away any unexpected injury just before the start of their respective matches.

Despite all the safeguarding, however, their players still continue to get injured ahead of the World Cup. In this listicle let’s look at five players who got bizarre injuries which were unrelated to cricket.

Josh Inglis

Just three days before Australia’s first match of the 20-20 World Cup, wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis suffered a freak injury while playing Golf.

It is understood that Inglis was playing with old golf clubs when one snapped in his hand, cutting it in the process. The batter was taken to a hospital right away and further details are yet to arrive. In all likelihood though, he will be ruled out of the first match against New Zealand on October 22nd.

Jonny Bairstow

England’s swashbuckling batter Jonny Bairstow’s 20-20 World Cup hopes ended when he was ruled out due to a bizarre accident at the golf course.

The right-hand batter was apparently walking to a tee box when he slipped and dislocated his leg. Phil Salt was added to the England squad as his replacement as England lost one of their most important players.

Devon Conway

Probably the funniest of the bunch, New Zealand batter Devon Conway broke his pinky finger in the semi-final match of the 2021 World Cup.

The injury happened when he hit his bat in anger after getting stumped in the semi-final match. As a result of his injury, Conway was ruled out of the final match between New Zealand and Australia. New Zealand lost the match by 8 wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja

One of India’s main players, Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the World Cup due to an ankle injury.

The all-rounder was partaking in a ski board activity wherein he fell and twisted his ankle. The injury ruled him out of the Asia Cup 2022 as well as the 20-20 World Cup. Fans were livid after and asked for an explanation from the board on why Jadeja was allowed to do a risky activity ahead of an important tournament.

Jofra Archer

England star bowler has been struggling with injury for a long time. He has gone through a number of injuries of which one stands out as truly bizarre.

In January 2021 Archer injured his right hand while cleaning a fish tank. The impact was so hard that glass fragments were stuck in his hands. Archer was later ruled out of the 2021 World Cup as a result of that injury.
