‘Bhai ye to shuru hote hi kharam ho gaya’ – Fans react as RCB thrash RR by 112 runs in IPL 2023

In the 60th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a comprehensive win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 112 runs at the Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Riding on amazing bowling performances from Wayne Panell, Karn Sharma and Mitchell Bracewell, RCB dismissed RR for just 59 runs after scoring 171-5 in 20 overs.

Earlier, after winning the Toss RCB skipper Faf du Plessis opted to bat first. His decision went well with the team as he along with opener Virat Kohli added 50 runs in seven overs. Kohli in his innings scored 18 runs off 19 balls with the help of a boundary before getting dismissed by pacer KM Asif. After his dismissal, Glen Maxwell joined his skipper in the middle.

Maxwell along with Faf added 69 runs for the second wicket before Asif broke the partnership by dismissing Faf. RCB skipper in his innings scored 55 runs off 44 balls with three boundaries and two sixes. After his departure Australian spinner Adam Zampa created havoc for some time as he dismissed Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror in quick succession. Maxwell also threw his wicket after scoring a half-century.

Maxwell scored 54 runs off 33 balls with the help of five boundaries and three sixes. In the end, Anuj Rawat’s unbeaten 29 runs off 11 balls helped RCB to post a competitive total of 171-5 in 20 overs. For RR Adam Zampa and KM Asif proved to be the best bowler as both clinched two wickets each meanwhile, Sandeep Sharma also got a wicket.

RCB bowlers thrashed Rajasthan Royals

While Chasing 172 Rajasthan Royals got the worst possible start as both openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler were dismissed for a two-ball duck in consecutive overs. Jaiswal was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj while Wayne Parnell dismissed Buttler in the second over. In the same over Sanju Samson also threw his wicket and left RR crumbling at 7-3 in 1.4 overs.

After the early shocks west Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer tried to rescue his team but eventually failed. He scored 35 runs off 19 balls with the help of a boundary and four sixes. Apart from him, Joe Root was the only batter to cross 10 runs mark as he scored 10 runs off 15 balls with the help of a boundary. For RCB Parnell clinched three wickets while Mitchell Bracewell and Karan Sharma clinched two wickets each. With this victory, RCB got a boost in their NRR and will be looking to continue their dominance in the tournament.
