West Indies vs India 2023
‘Bhai WTC wali wapis laao jersey’ – Fans react to new lead sponsor on the India’s Test jersey
The Indian test squad had a day with the media to get their headshots clicked ahead of the first test against the West Indies
Following the signing of a three-year agreement featuring the Indian Cricket Board earlier this month, Team India will don the jersey with the Dream11 emblem as title sponsors for the first time during the West Indies tour.
Dream11, the largest fantasy sports gaming site in India, has been named Team India’s principal sponsor for a three-year period, according to an Indian Cricket Board press statement. BYJU’s, who had their agreement with the Indian Cricket Board expire in March 2023, will be replaced by Dream11.
The press release also stated that commencing with the Test series versus the West Indies, from the team’s first match for the World Test Championship 2023–25 cycle, Dream11 will be visible on Team India kits.
Before the Test series between India and West Indies begins, some images of the players wearing the jersey adorned with the dream11 emblem were circulated on social media. The red logo on the blue-themed top caused funny reactions from fans.
While some viewers criticised it as ugly, others questioned whether Team India or Team Dream11 would enter the field. The basic kit worn at the World Test Championship (WTC) final this past month was favoured by the supporters, who don’t appear overly delighted with the new uniform.
India all set to take on West Indies
A two-match Test series between Rohit Sharma and the company and the West Indies will begin on Wednesday, July 12 at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica, and conclude on Wednesday, July 20 at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Eight white ball contests, including three one-day internationals (ODIs) from July 27 to August 1 and a five-match Twenty20 International series from August 3 to August 13, will thereafter be played by the Men in Blue as part of their Caribbean tour. India has a host of young players in the squad as well and would be looking to try them ahead of the two major world tournaments coming up in the next 18 months. Since the T20 World Cup will be held in the West Indies also, it might be a chance for the young side to have a shot of establishing themselves in conditions in which they might have to perform later next year.

Why can't Dream 11 agree to have the name Blue to match the jersey code? Many sponsors in Premier League do this, ex Standard Chartered for Liverpool. Is the red colour too important for them? At least it gives them multiple frames of the same logo.

The amount of money BCCI has, they really don’t need to ruin a test jersey this way. Sad to see our players having to wear this.
