Asia Cup 2023
“Below average player talking rubbish” : Twitter lashes out at Mohammad Hafeez for calling Rohit Sharma ‘weak, confused and terrified’
Mohammad Hafeez claimed that the Indian captain looked ‘weak, confused, and terrified.
The Asia Cup tournament has once again ignited the India-Pakistan rivalry. The two teams met recently in the second match of the tournament where India handed a defeat to Pakistan by six wickets. However, despite India’s brilliant performance in the tournament so far, former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez isn’t impressed with Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
The former all-rounder, who was talking to an expert panel on PTV Sports, commented on Sharma’s body language at the time of the toss against Pakistan and claimed that the Indian captain looked ‘weak, confused, and terrified.’
“Look at his expression. This is Rohit Sharma’s expression after the game got finished. And they won by 40 runs. His body language was weak when he came out to toss. I thought he was scared and confused. I can’t see Rohit Sharma whom I know. That Rohit Sharma who has played blinder of knocks,” said the 41-year-old.
Hafeez further said that Sharma will not be able to captain the side for long as his performance has gone down since he became the captain.
“I feel that it will be tough for Rohit to continue his captaincy. I don’t think he can hold on for too long. I know this from experience, that when you are a captain, there are several pressures on you. He can still perform good for India, but since he became captain, his [performance] has gradually gone down,” Hafeez added.

Meanwhile, the Indian team has qualified for the Super 4 stage of the tournament after defeating Hong Kong in their second match. Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are the other two teams to qualify from Group B. Pakistan is playing an important game against Hong Kong tonight. The winner of the competition will be the last team to advance to the next stage and the loser will be knocked out.
Hafeez’s comments didn’t go down well with the Indian fans who are bashing him for his remarks on social media. Here are some of the Tweets:
Mohammad Hafeez is another one of those cricketers who remain silent thier whole careers and take sides of people for their own benefits and right after retiring they starts talking shit about others as they know they don't have to worry about being in cricket anymore.

Mohammad Hafeez: Av 25 in T20 and Av 9 in IPL. A below average performer is now commenting on a maestro! Only a Pakistani can have such audacity!

He don't care about the pressure
He always remain same that's why he has been a successfull Captain
5 IPL trophies are proof of that
Mohammad Hafeez should check his stats First before commenting on other players???— Sahil Satwani (@SahilSatwani2) September 2, 2022
Rohit was pissed off because Avesh and Arshdeep leaked too many runs. This guy #MohammadHafeez has no idea what he's talking about.

Mohammad Hafeez is suffering from attention seeking syndrome just like fraud wannabe cricket journalist @ArfaSays_

His expressions should be the last thing to be bothered about. And as far as pressure is concerned, he's won world's best league IPL 5 times as captain, twice with the margin of just 1 run. So he knows how to handle the pressure – very very well.
