BCCI forms committee to probe threats sent to Wriddhiman Saha by senior journalist

The BCCI has announced the formation of a three-member committee comprising of Mr Rajiv Shukla – BCCI Vice-President, Mr Arun Singh Dhumal – BCCI Treasurer and Mr Prabhtej Singh Bhatia – BCCI Apex Council Member. 

The committee will investigate the alleged threats made to Wriddhiman Saha by a senior journalist for not settling for an interview. Initially, the senior Indian wicketkeeper refused to reveal the identity of the journalist. However, as per reports, he has agreed to reveal the name of the senior journalist and has given his approval to the investigation.

 “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has today constituted a three-member committee to look into the matter of Wriddhiman Saha receiving threats and intimidation from a senior journalist. The three-member committee comprises BCCI Vice-President Mr. Rajiv Shukla, BCCI Treasurer Mr. Arun Singh Dhumal and BCCI Apex Council Member Mr. Prabhtej Singh Bhatia. The committee will start the proceedings as early as next week,” said BCCI in a release

Wriddhiman Saha was India’s first-choice wicketkeeper in Test matches for quite a while. He played 40 Test matches for India and scored 1353 runs at a strike rate of 45.51. He scored three centuries and six half-centuries in his Test career. However, he was dropped from the Indian team and reportedly informed by the management that he won’t be considered anymore.
