‘Batter to bowler – Aap yeh game quit nahin kar sakte’ – Fans amused as former Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali hits a bizarre boundary
Former Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali plays for Worcestershire after retiring from international cricket last December.
Former Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali retired from international cricket last year. After playing 97 Tests, he bid adieu to international cricket during the series against England which the team lost 0-3. The 2017 Champions Trophy had already retired from ODI cricket six years back just a few months after winning the title. Meanwhile, the right-hander is currently playing for Worcestershire in the ongoing County Championship Division Two.
In the game against Sussex, he played a short when the ball from the Sussex bowler slipped out of the hands and rolled on the playing facility. The ball was going out of the pitching area and rolling toward slips. However, the former Pakistan skipper decided to hit the ball for a four. Even though it is not clear whether it was given a dead ball or a boundary. After all, the rules in County Cricket are old and don’t always keep up with international cricket.
Meanwhile, the fans found it amusing and have dropped memes and comments.

As per new rule I think you can't hit a deadball if it goes beyond the pitch!
(May be at the international level only, county still must be following old one; correct me if I'm wrong)

Azhar Ali’s century helped Worcestershire escape with a draw against Sussex
Meanwhile, talking about the game, the visitors, Sussex won the toss and elected to field first. Their decision proved right as England international, Ollie Robinson took seven-for and helped the team bowl out Worcester for 264 runs. For the home side, the likes of Adam Hose and Matthew Waite scored the fifties.
In reply, the Cheteshwar Pujara-led side amassed 373 all-out with their skipper scoring another ton in the season. In the second innings, the home team needed someone to put their hand up for the team. Former Pakistan international Ali did and scored an unbeaten hundred. After losing eight wickets and with a lead of 142, the game ended in a draw.
