Barcelona can’t afford to sell Robert Lewandowski jersey because they have run out of ‘W’s

After months of lowballing Bayern Munich for Robert Lewandowski’s signature, the Catalan club have finally landed the Polish striker. In a deal worth £42.5 million plus addons, Barcelona have swept aside competition from the likes of PSG and Chelsea to win Lewandowski’s signature.

The Polish striker has already set his sights on a Barcelona transfer which made it easy for the Spanish club. Being one of the best Number Nines in world football at the moment, it is no wonder that the 33-year-old enjoys massive popularity.

The extent of his fame could be known from the fact that Barcelona club shops are running out of his jerseys. A viral video of one such club shop has caught the eye of many. In this video, a Barca Store employee when asked, “Why can’t we buy jerseys with Lewandowski?” by a fan, says, “Because we don’t have the letter ‘w’”.

The employee further says, “and because he has two ‘W’ in his name, we ran out.”

Confused by the reasoning for the unavailability of Lewandowski’s shirt, the fan asks, “Seriously” to which the Barca Store employee smiles and nods.

Lewandowksi has been a statement signing for the Spanish club in their attempt to get back to their best. There has been an atmosphere of confidence around the club with his signing.

Earlier, Barcelona’s club president Joan Laporta expressed joy on Lewandowski’s signing. He said, “We competed with PSG and Chelsea for Lewandowski and he wanted to come to us, we must thank him because he gets less money from us.”

Robert Lewandowski who has scored 238 goals for the German club Bayern Munich was the primary mover behind this transfer as he had already expressed desire to play for the Spanish club in a press conference earlier.

After signing for the five-time Champions League winner, Lewandowski said, “I am still the guy who wants to win, not only the game but also the titles so I hope from the beginning of the season we will begin winning and go for the titles during the season and at the end of the season.

“I always wanted to play in La Liga, I always wanted to play for the biggest clubs. It is the next step. Also, for my private life, it was a new challenge,” added Lewandowski.
