‘Bad luck Rutu’ – Twitter disappointed as Ruturaj Gaikwad loses his wicket in most bizarre way

Chennai and Lucknow are facing each other at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The latter won the toss and elected to field first. Chennai got off to a great start with opening batter Robin Uthappa displaying his variety of shots. Uthappa had hit one-six and three fours when his partner Ruturaj Gaikwad (1) was run out due to a direct hit from Ravi Bishnoi.

The incident happened in the third over of the innings, bowled by Andrew Tye. On the third ball of the over, Gaikwad missed a straight delivery as Lucknow appealed for LBW. Amidst the chaos, Gaikwad had no clue about the ball and set off for a single. However, his batting partner denied the single as the latter felt that the run wasn’t on with Bishnoi fielding at the point position.

The leg-spinner hit the stumps with the batter falling short of the popping crease. On the other hand, Uthappa went to score a half-century in 27 balls before he was trapped lbw by Bishnoi. At the time of writing, the team has amassed 167/4 with Ravindra Jadeja (1) and Shivam Dube (40 off 26) batting at the crease.

Ali has played for the first time in the tournament as he was quarantined after arriving in India. He missed out on the first game against Kolkata, where the team lost by six wickets.

Talking about the team, Chennai has made three changes to their playing XI. They are missing the services of Adam Milne, who is ruled out due to side strain. Ali has replaced him.
Dwaine Pretorius and Mukesh Chowdhary are making their debuts in the ITL in place of Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner. On the other hand, Lucknow has made only one change with Mohsin Khan replaced by Andrew Tye.

Meanwhile, Twitter reacted to Gaikwad’s dismissal and felt bad for his unfortunate runout.
