Pakistan Captain Babar Azam found himself in a controversy on Monday as some of his private photos and videos were leaked online by a Twitter account with the username @niiravmodi. However, in a new development, the Twitter account has clarified that the story was fake and was spread to create a negative image of the Pakistan captain so that he could be removed from his position.

The story was widely reported by all the leading media houses in India and spread worldwide with Australian media outlet ‘Fox Sports’ also reporting the same. The Twitter user apoligized to the Pakistan captain on Tuesday and tweeted, ‘I am sorry @babaraza258, I have deleted that post on the request of an Indian cricketer in DM.’

Earlier on Monday, the account claimed that the Pakistan captain was allegedly sexting with the girlfriend of his teammate and promised her that her boyfriend will not be dropped from the team if she keeps sexting with him.

“Babar Azam sexting with gf of another Pakistan cricketer and promising her that her bf won’t be out of team if she keeps sexting with him is just ?? I hope allah is watching all this,” the account tweeted in the wee hours of Monday.

An Instagram account contained private photos and videos of Babar

Following the Tweet, Pakistan captain Babar Azam began trending on social media with people divided over the matter. Some backed the Pakistan captain and called the news an agenda against him while others bashed him for exploiting numerous girls.

An Instagram user with username ‘eisha.arajpoot.1’ uploaded Babar’s chats and voice messages on the account and claimed to bring his true face out in the public. The account contained some private video chats of Babar with a girl. It also had one video where the Pakistan captain can be seen sitting with a girl in a car.

As the story gained traction, the Twitter user began calling out media outlets and mocked them for reporting without verifying the source of the news. The account cleared the air on Tuesday and told that the entire story was fake and said that he uses Twitter for fun.
