Babar Azam gives explosive reply to ‘Can’t you play like Virat Kohli’ question
Pakistan has a very slim chance of qualifying for the semifinal of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has often been compared to former India skipper Virat Kohli over the years. While there has been a stark difference between the two careers as batters and captains, there are still people who compare the two. Meanwhile, at this point, the 1992 winners needed to win by either 287 runs or chase down the target in just 16 balls minimum. Apparently, this is their scenario to reach the semis of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.
Ahead of the Shaheens’ last league game against England, a reporter asked whether Azam can play the same role as what Kohli does for India.
“With regards to your captaincy, can’t a cricketer like you play the role that Virat Kohli is playing in the Indian team? To prolong your career and focus more on cricket? Because sometimes it feels like this burden hurts your individual performance,” asked a reporter to Babar on the eve of the Pakistan vs England match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

In reply, the 2017 Champions Trophy winner said that it is easy to give advice on TV. He added that if anyone who has his contact number can give him advice personally
“TV pe baith ke mashwara dena asaan hota hai . Agar mashwara dena hai toh number toh sabke paas hi hai (If someone has to give me advice, everyone has my number. It is easy to give advice on TV. If you want to give me some advice, you can message me),” Babar said.
Talking about the England vs Pakistan game, the Three Lions are looking to ensure their Champions Trophy 2025 qualification. While the Asian side has qualified due to being the host and the defending champions, the European side needs two more points. They are lagging at number seven and a win for them might do the trick. On the other hand, Bangladesh needs to beat Australia heavily to get past England’s NRR
