For the first time this year, India and Pakistan will play each other. The match will be part of the Asia Cup 2022. Both teams will lock horns at the Dubai International Stadium. Coincidentally, when the last time they played each, the venue was the same with Babar Azam’s men winning by 10 wickets. That match was part of the 20-20 World Cup 2021.

Meanwhile, the year has changed and the Men In Blue will be looking for a change in results. Also, one thing which goes in their favour is that they have plenty of options in the squad and game time. On the other hand, their arch-rivals have only one T20I game this year. That game was against Australia in April when the Green brigade lost. Meanwhile, in this listicle, we will discuss three battles to watch out for between the Asian rivals.

  1. Shaheen Afridi vs Rohit Sharma

The fans might be aware of the fact that the India skipper has a weakness against left-arm pacers. In other words, he gets into trouble whenever a southpaw brings the ball back into him from over the wicket. The mistake he commits is that his front leg comes across the line which makes it difficult for him to bring the bat down to meet the ball.

Afridi is a fine bowler who can exploit this weakness. The last time they played each other, the former U19 Pakistan player had the number of the Mumbaikar. However, it is important to note that the left-arm pacer is currently injured and his participation in the tournament is still doubtful.

2. Bhuvenshwar Kumar vs Babar Azam

There is absolutely no doubt about the Pakistan skipper’s batting class. The way he plays the ball is an absolute treat to the eye for the fans. He doesn’t seem to have any major weaknesses.

On the other hand, Kumar is an experienced and world-class swing bowler who can trouble the batters. Azam opens the innings in T20I which is why it will be interesting to see how he plays against some of the best seam presentations of the Uttar Pradesh player.

3. Suryakumar Yadav vs Shahnawaz Dahani

Recently, Suryakumar Yadav has started opening the batting in T20Is. Although, it is unlikely now with the return of KL Rahul in the team. However, one thing is for sure is that he will bat in the top four. The Mumbaikar is one of the most dynamic batters in the team.

On the other hand, Dahani is a rising pacer who has the ability to generate extra bounce thanks to his height. The Indian players haven’t played him yet which makes him even more dangerous. It will be interesting which one of them will win this contest.
