Asia Cup 2023
‘Ash anna abhi part-time analyst bhi’ – Fans react to viral tweet of Ravichandran Ashwin analysing Mohammad Rizwan’s bizarre run out vs Nepal in Asia Cup 2023
Mohammad Rizwan steadied the innings with Babar after Pakistan’s two quick wickets.
On 30 August 2023, the 16th edition of the Asia Cup began in Multan Cricket Stadium as Pakistan took on Nepal. However, Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bat first. The Men in Green posted a huge total of 342 runs for six wickets in 50 overs. Babar Azam scored 151 runs while Iftikhar also hit an unbeaten century.
Mohammad Rizwan was looking solid until he got out in a bizarre fashion on 44 runs. He got run out but the way of his dismissal left fans surprised. Even, Team India spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin also came up with a tweet in order to analyse the dismissal. In reply to that, fans shared their views on social media.
Here is the shared tweet:
The height of the throw made it harder to evade for Rizwan but for someone who generally dives to make his ground all the time while running between the wickets, this is a rare instance of him ducking for cover and the only reason is that he isn’t wearing his helmet.

Mohammad Rizwan hit six fours in his innings
Speaking of the tweet, Ashwin wrote: “The height of the throw made it harder to evade for Rizwan but for someone who generally dives to make his ground all the time while running between the wickets, this is a rare instance of him ducking for cover and the only reason is that he isn’t wearing his helmet. He loves sweeping against spin and no helmet makes it even more bizarre. #PAKvsNEP.” The dismissal took place on the fourth delivery of the 24th over of Pakistan’s innings.
Rizwan nudged the ball to covers and went for a single. Dipendra Singh Airee picked up the ball and hit the stumps directly at the non-striker’s end. But, Rizwan was seen looking to get himself out of the line of the ball and in order to do that, his bat and both feet were seen in the air. Hence, that left fans shocked and Rizwan scored 44 runs off 50 balls, including six fours. He and Babar Azam put up an 86-run partnership for the third wicket. However, Nepal bowlers were taken apart all around the ground by both Babar and Iftikhar as they scored 214 runs for the fifth wicket.
Here is how fans have reacted:
this is not ducking but jumping

The no helmet was definitely the reason Rizwan did not go for the dive but even so, wearing it on the body for your country would go a long way!
