‘Arey baat to suno becharay ki’- Twitter sympathises with Arshdeep Singh as Rohit Sharma turns his back on him in the final over against Sri Lanka

India failed to defend 173 runs against Sri Lanka in the Super Four.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh has had a sensational rise in international cricket. The left-arm pacer in a matter of a couple of years has gone from playing in the Vijay Hazare trophy to now bowling for the national side.

Recently, however, the 23-year-old is going through a tough time with no fault of his own. The young pacer dropped Asif Ali’s catch in the match against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2022 and since then has been the subject of abuse and name calling.

Although he has bowled well in all the games so far, that dropped catch has been made the biggest reason for India’s loss and Singh has had to bear the brunt of social media trolling.

The left-arm seamer was given just seven runs to defend in the last over against Pakistan which proved to be too small in the end. Against Sri Lanka, the equation turned similar as Singh was again given seven runs to defend in the last over. After bowling four back-to-back yorkers and giving five runs, the 23-year-old was left with just two runs to defend when a missed throw from Rishabh Pant and the bowler himself allowed Sri Lanka to win the match with one ball to spare.

One incident from the over however has been going viral on the Internet for Rohit Sharma’s behaviour towards the youngster. The video shows the Indian captain turning his back to Singh as he suggests something. Rohit seemed to be unhappy with the field placement and was under immense pressure after the loss against Pakistan.

Here’s the video:

Twitter soon started trending the video with many fans coming up with differing opinions on Rohit’s reaction, some say that he was under pressure while others call in disrespect of the young bowler. India eventually lost the match and finds itself in a tough situation with a very slim chance of qualification to the finals.

Let’s look at how Twitter reacted to Rohit Sharma turning his back on Arshdeep Singh:
