Pakistan Cricket Team’s participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 has been a matter of suspense in the last few months. Apparently, after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) offered the hybrid model, the recent developments mean that India won’t accept it. Notably, the confirmation of the same might come after the final of the ongoing IPL 2023. With India not accepting the hybrid model, Pakistan might boycott the World Cup.

Meanwhile, on May 30, Apex Council leaders such as Wasim Khan, Geoff Allardice, and Greg Barclay will meet the PCB officials. This will happen for the first time since 2008 that Allardice will visit Pakistan. On the other hand, Barcley will land in the Asian country for the first time while Khan is the former CEO of PCB under Ehsan Mani.

“That’s something that’s obviously ongoing at the moment,” Apex Council General Manager Wasim Khan told a virtual press conference on Monday when asked about Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup.

“Geoff Allardice, our CEO, and Greg are in Pakistan at the moment discussing a number of areas with the PCB hierarchy.

“But that’s certainly up to the two countries and the hierarchy within the Apex Council to discuss them and come to some conclusions,” added former PCB CEO Khan.

Pakistan’s participation alongside India will be important for Apex Council

Meanwhile, there is no surprise to the fact that India vs Pakistan games in the World Events garner a lot of profits for the Apex Council. not to forget, the Cricket Governing Council lost a lot of money after both teams crashed out losing to weaker sides in the 2007 ODI World Cup.

Even though there is no confirmation yet, the organization makes 25 percent of the entire tournament through INDO-PAK games.
