India vs West Indies
‘An easy win’: Twitter overjoyed as India steamroll West Indies in the first T20I match
After the exciting ODI series between the India and West Indies, the action shifted to the fast-paced T20 cricket on Friday. The two teams clashed for the first match of the five-match T20I series on Friday at Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad. The West Indies captain, Nicholas Pooran won the toss and invited the Indian team to bat first.
The Indian openers gave an incredible start to the team as they added 44 runs in 4.4 overs. Both Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma showed their impeccable hitting skills as they launched the West Indies bowlers into the stands for fun.
After the opening stand was broken, Shreyas Iyer, who was in at 3, went cheaply as h was dismissed for a duck. Rohit Sharma kept playing his shots from one end but wickets falling at other end.
Rohit was dismissed at the score of 127/5 in 14.5 overs after scoring 64 off 44 balls. The Indian team looked like losing their way in the end but Dinesh Karthik played a blistering knock to give India a thumping finish to their innings as he scored an unbeaten 41 off 19 balls. India ended their 20 overs at the score of 190/6.
The West Indies openers came out all guns blazing as they began the innings in grand fashion scoring two boundaries in the first over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Arshdeep Singh gave India their first success with the ball as he picked up the wicket of Kyle Mayers after being hit for a four and a six in the second over of the innings. The West Indies chase never got going as the Indian bowlers came to the party keeping pressure on from both ends. Ravichandran Ashwin shone brightly with the ball playing T2o international after eight months as he picked up two wickets for 22 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Bishnoi also did an excellent job of containing the runs as they managed to keep the batters quiet which eventually led to their downfall. From being 66/3 to 86/7, West Indies had a dramatic collapse and India were all but done with the match as whatever was left was just a formality. India ended up winning the match comfortably by 68 runs. Dinesh Karthik was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his quickfire innings that propelled India’s total to 190.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to India’s dominating victory:

Rishabh Pant even after playing continuously 49 T20 matches is not able to be consistent & BCCI keep favouring him series by series where as BCCI wants Sanju Samson to be consistent in just 14 matches that too over a course of 7yrs. Dinesh Karthik is consistently nasty down the order when there's nothing else to do but hit. Man cracked the code and exploiting it in every chance he gets.

Good to see Ashwin justifying his selection today. 2 big wickets of Pooran & Hetmyer and provided some support to DK at the end with the bat. https://t.co/2qbtlMEQ4i

No Indian pacer has got me more excited than Arshdeep Singh since Bumrah. Man has it all – the skills to operate in every phase of a T20, top-notch execution, and the most important trait for any bowler- the intelligence to understand what to bowl when. He is the real deal.
