Australia tour of Pakistan

Watch: Babar Azam blasts journalist for biased question

The Test action of the Australia tour of Pakistan has now moved to Karachi after a dull match in Rawalpindi. The match was quite boring as there were almost 1200 runs scored, with bowlers grinding hard.

On eve of the match, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who is generally very calm, lost his cool at a journalist. Babar was asked by the journalist how Pakistani batters will respond if the Aussie bowlers dominate them during the second Test. The question irked Babar who lashed out at the journalist for being biased.

“You can’t just claim that Australians will dominate us. Keep your questions balanced and unbiased. Pakistan batters dominated Australians in the first Test. We also scored hundreds, with Abdullah Shafique batting maturely and Imam scoring back-to-back tons. Our senior pro, Azhar Ali, also batted well, and we got a lot of momentum,” he said.

Speaking further, Babar Azam reminded the journalist that the team had a good first Test. He mentioned that the batters maintained a run rate of 4-4.5 in the first match. Notably, Pakistan bowler Nauman Ali had a good run as well. He got a six-wicket haul in the first innings. “I think you need to look at the opponent as well. All four of their bowlers are high on confidence, and the way our batters dominated them, they also took the run-rate to 4-4.5. You cannot dominate every session. When opposition dominates, you need to absorb pressure and not lose wickets,” he added.

Meanwhile, Australia dominated Pakistan on day 1 of the second Test. The team had scored 249-2 at the time of writing.
