Asia Cup 2023
India and Pakistan go head-to-head on August 28 in Asia Cup 2022: Reports
The two teams last played against each other in T20I World Cup 2021.
India and Pakistan don’t play against each other due to territorial disputes between the two countries. Fans are only left with multiple-team Cup tournaments where these two get a chance to meet.
One such recent event was the T20I World Cup group stage clash between India and Pakistan in 2021. India were defeated by the Pakistan side by a massive 10 wickets, ending their 29-year-old World Cup jinx. Since then, fans are again waiting for a Cup tournament that allows these two to clash against each other once more.
Reports have now emerged that India and Pakistan would go head-to-head again in the Asia Cup on 28th August 2022. The 2022 edition Asia Cup is planned to be hosted in Sri Lanka in a T20I format as opposed to the ODI format earlier.
SLC is going ahead with Asia Cup after getting the green light from India. They are drawn up with Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The high profile India versus Pakistan scheduled on the 28th August. Qualifiers will start on 21 Aug. Tournament proper from 27 Aug to 11 Sep. Exciting.?

The official schedule for the Asia Cup is not yet revealed but reports say that it would start on August 21 with Sri Lanka and Afganisthan playing the Qualifier. In what came out as a piece of great news for the fans, Sri Lanka Cricket Board is keen to host the tournament despite the economic crisis in the country. This would be the second time that the Asia Cup is being held in a T20I format. The first time this happened was back in 2016 when India defeated Bangladesh in the final.
India would be looking to avenge their defeat in the 20-20 World Cup against Pakistan. Men in Blue would now be hoping for making a comeback under Rohit Sharma with Rahul Dravid as the head coach.
Babar Azam has been in inspiring form recently and is breaking records left right and centre. Along with him, the sensational pacer Shaheen Afridi would be another big threat to the Indian batting lineup.
India are currently on a tour of England. They lost the fifth rescheduled Test match in Birmingham and are now set to play a three-match T20I series against England, starting today.
