Ishan Kishan, the young wicketkeeper-batter for Team India, is now not playing cricket since he took a sabbatical, allegedly because of mental exhaustion. After the team’s defeat to Australia in the T20I series in November 2023, Ishan withdrew from the next tour to South Africa in the middle of the trip, citing his inability to play in the Test series versus the Proteas.

Ishan hasn’t played in the home Test match against England or the T20I series versus Afghanistan since then. Ishan may return to the team after participating in domestic cricket, according to Rahul Dravid’s remark last month. However, Dravid changed his mind after the team’s second Test match versus England in Visakhapatnam previously this week.

Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid spoke about Ishan Kishan after the second Test against England. He said, “Whenever he is ready, I didn’t say he has to play domestic cricket; I said whenever he is ready… he needs to play some cricket and come back. The choice is his. We are not forcing him to do anything. We are in touch with him.”

Ishan Kishan was recently seen “working out and practising” in Baroda, according to a report from Cricbuzz. The 25-year-old, who hopes to return to the international setup. He has reportedly been in the city over the past three weeks and has been using the Reliance Stadium’s amenities. Even though he’s returned to training, it’s unclear when he intends to start competing again.

The article further states that Ishan visited the Baroda training facility with the Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal. After a highly publicised comeback to the Mumbai Indians in November following his departure from the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, Hardik will get to interact with Ishan again. Hardik took over as the team’s captain early in December, succeeding Rohit Sharma.
