Mayank Agarwal gets fitness clearance to return to lead Karnataka team against Tamil Nadu for Ranji Trophy
Karnataka’s cricket team captain Mayank Agarwal has been declared fit to play cricket as per reported. He was sidelined for the match against Railways in the Ranji Trophy due to a health issue. The incident took place during the flight when Mayank Agarwal consumed a substance from a pouch thinking it was water which resulted in discomfort and vomiting.
Mayank Agarwal was hospitalized and was under observation. Due to ulcers and swelling, he couldn’t speak for the next 48 hours. He underwent a medical examination and was discharged he went back to Bengaluru.
Later his condition was normal and reports confirmed that there was no significant health issue. Mayank Agarwal himself told his fans through Cricinfo that his health is good and set to return to the field. After the ordeal, he posted a statement on social media stating that he is fine.
“I am feeling better now. Gearing to come back. Thanks for your prayers, love and support, everyone,” Mayank Agarwal said in his Instagram post on Wednesday, January 31.
A formal investigation will take place as reported by the Karnataka team manager. A complaint was also lodged with the Superintendent of Police for Tripura West. The case is now under investigation at New Capital Police Station in Agartala.
Nikin Jose led Karnataka in the absence of Mayank Agarwal
As Mayank Agarwal was not available Nikin Jose was the captain for Karnataka. The match start for Karnataka was bad, they were bowled out for 174 in the first innings. In the second innings, Manish Pandey played an important knock of 67 runs and remained unbeaten as they chased down the target of 226 and won the game against Railway by 1 wicket.
Mayank Agarwal is set to return to the field as his contributions this season have been important. In this season so far, he has scored two centuries and a half-century. He has scored 310 runs in seven innings with an average of 44.28. His captaincy and batting skills has helped Karnataka’s cricket team during their domestic circuit. In Group C Karnataka are in second position. They have played four games and have won two games lost one and one resulted in a draw.
