India vs England 2024

‘Pura team hi gadbad hain’- Fans react as Wasim Jaffer drops startling comments about team India batting ahead of 2nd Test against England

India have lost the first Test against England on Sunday. Rohit Sharma’s side were unsuccessful to chase a target of 231 runs. They fell 28 runs short. After the loss, a few batters’ forms have been called into question, especially Shubman Gill who is having a dry run. The 24-year-old batter scored just 23 runs in the 1st Test and was out on duck in the second innings. However, the batter is playing at the new position of No.3 as he has yet to showcase his talent in the new position.

Ahead of the 2nd Test former opener Wasim Jaffer has made a surprising suggestion for Team India’s top order in the upcoming Test series against England. He believes Shubman Gill should open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, with skipper Rohit Sharma batting at number three.

Many cricket experts are calling for his dismissal from the Test team. Gill also struggled during the two-match Test series in South Africa. He looked fantastic opening the bat, but his move to number three in the lineup has backfired for the team and the batter himself.

Gill and Jaiswal should open and Rohit should bat at no.3: Wasim Jaffer

Jaffer suggested an interesting tweak to India’s top order, “Gill and Jaiswal should open and Rohit should bat at no.3 in 2nd test in my opinion. Waiting to bat for his turn isn’t helping Shubman, it’s better he opens the inn. Rohit plays spin really well, so batting at no.3 should not worry him too much. #INDvENG.”

Previously Kevin Pietersen stated, “I don’t think you can get rid of somebody as quickly as one test match. He will definitely play in Vizag and let’s have a look and see how he prepares for the next Test. Let’s not cast Shubman Gill aside and say he can’t play. He can play. When you talk about feelings, he give me the feeling of sheer joy and delight when he walks out to bat. I want to watch him bat.”
