Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi picks favourite wicket from T20 World Cup clash against India
Pakistan left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi has become a world sensation since his match-winning performance against India in the T20 World Cup last year. Afridi took three wickets which helped his side restricting India to a total of 151/7. Only the then India skipper Virat Kohli (57) and Rishabh Pant (39) could score significantly.
The left-arm pacer took the wickets of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli. Out of them, he took the wickets of Sharma and Rahul in the powerplay. On the other hand, the 21-year-old took the wicket of Kohli in the slog overs. Meanwhile, in an interaction with Mazher Arshad on his YouTube channel, thepacer said that Rahul’s wicket was his favorite as the former didn’t expect the ball to swing at all.
“Rahul’s wicket was the favourite one. I think I wasn’t even expecting the ball to move in that much after pitching. It was my second over only and generally, the ball doesn’t move that much in the first couple of overs. ”
Talking about the preceding of the game, apart from Shaheen, Hasan Ali took two wickets while Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf took one each. In reply, the Babar Azam-led side chased down the total with 10 wickets in hand.
Openers Mohammad Rizwan (79*) and Azam (68*) didn’t give an inch to the Indian bowlers. Bowlers such as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, and Varun Chakravarthy proved expensive while Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja were economical but couldn’t penetrate the Pakistani batting line-up.
This was the first time Pakistan had beaten India in the T20 World Cup history. Since 2007, India had beaten Pakistan on on all occasions till 2016. Only in 2007, Pakistan came close but couldn’t cross the line on both occasions.
