‘Bhai ab toh aapka spot chala gya’ – Fans react as veteran Team India batter hopes to play 100 Test matches
Ajinkya Rahane has played over 80 Test matches for Team India in his illustrious career.
Veteran Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane has stated that he wants to finish 100 Tests. The right-handed batter’s main emphasis is on clinching the prestigious Ranji Trophy for Mumbai.
The experienced player returned to the team in June 2023 for the World Test Championship final versus Australia, having been out for more than a year. Despite his promising showing in the final, the right-hander was dropped again when his performance in the ensuing West Indies tour proved inadequate.
After Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy encounter versus Andhra Pradesh, the veteran batter spoke with reporters. As quoted by CricBuzz, he said, “My goal is to secure both the Ranji Trophy and the bigger objective of playing in 100 Test matches.”
The batsman, who was born in Maharashtra, lost all of his wickets in the one sole innings he batted in, although his side won handily by ten wickets. The Mumbai skipper last struck a century in December 2020, despite having amassed 5077 runs over 85 Test matches.
After bowling Andhra Pradesh out for 184 compared to their 395, Rahane defended his choice by saying that the bowlers just needed a bit more energy. The veteran batter added, “The decision was instinctive as such opportunities are very rare. If you read the situation and sniff the opportunity for seven points…it will be helpful for you in future as you don’t know how the wicket will be, the conditions will be, teams form in the upcoming matches…you never know what will happen.”
“The challenge is to be consistent” : Ajinkya Rahane
Mumbai was able to chase down the 34-run mark without conceding a wicket after Andhra Pradesh got out for 244 runs during their second innings.
Ajinkya Rahane ended by saying that, “So yesterday, I felt like if the bowlers will push themselves a bit and if we take two-three early wickets then it will become easier for us. It’s been a very good start for us this season. The challenge is to be consistent because when you want to win the Ranji Trophy, it is all about being consistent throughout the period of time.”

Only 1 position is vacant as of now. If virat who is in poor form in spinning condition continues to struggle & gets drop. Then Rahane has some chnace left. Still its a difficult case
