IPL 2024: Punjab Kings set to play home games at new venue

The recently constructed Mullanpur Stadium by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) is poised to become the home ground for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2024. The Secretary of PCA Dilsher Khanna has confirmed to a news agency that officials from PBKS have inspected the Mullanpur Stadium. It has also made it highly probable that IPL 2024 matches will take place at this venue.
In the past few weeks, there were speculations about the India vs Afghanistan T20I match taking place at the Mullanpur Stadium in January. However, the PCA Secretary clarified to News18 that certain pending work is still to be completed at the venue. As a result, the fixture will be held at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Dilsher Khanna conducted a detailed tour of the stadium for media personnel, highlighting features such as the playing area, grandstands, and facilities available for players and fans.

In addition to it, reports also indicate that the Mullanpur Stadium has a spectator capacity of approximately 30,000, with parking expected for around 1800 cars. Currently, 12 pitches are being prepared in the middle, and the net session area for players is situated adjacent to gate number one, the entrance for teams. The stadium features two spacious dressing rooms with amenities such as a sauna bath, buffet area, shower, and massage area dedicated to the players.
Harshal Patel roped in by PBKS during Mini Auction
The notable buys from the franchise were Harshal Patel, Chris Woakes and Rilee Rossouw. Harshal was roped in by the team at INR 11.75 crore. Woakes was bought by PBKS for INR 4.20 crore. The franchise even bought Rossouw for INR 8 crore.
