Brett Lee shares his opinion on Virat Kohli’s form
Virat Kohli has failed to capitalize on the form he regained against Gujarat
Virat Kohli‘s poor form has once again become a point of discussion for the cricketing fraternity. The batting maestro had put the discussion to bed after he scored 73 runs against Gujarat during the league phase of the Indian T20 League 2022. However, his critics has begun to question his form once again, thanks to his failure with the bat in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 games respectively. These matches were played against Lucknow and Rajasthan.
The right-hander returned with scores of 25 and 7 in these games. His failure didn’t affect his side during the game against Lucknow as the likes of Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik helped the team reach a total of more than 200 runs. The bowlers went on to defend the total. However, the 33-year-old’s failure against Rajasthan hurt the team as they could only muster 157 runs. The same bowlers couldn’t defend the total and thus, their dream of winning the title was shattered.
Meanwhile, former Australia speedster Brett Lee has said that Bangalore needed their former skipper to step up in the knockout game. Lee added that the former Indian skipper wants to score more runs, and is a hard-working player. The 45-year-old further added that Kohli taking some time off from the game might help in the future.
“Everyone wants Kohli to score runs. RCB had the chance to go through to the final, but they missed out. They needed guys, like Virat Kohli to stand up. Even though the whole captaincy thing is not on his sleeves anymore, as a senior player, I’m sure he wants more runs. I can promise you though If there’s anyone that works very hard with his cricket it is Virat Kohli.
He leaves no stone unturned and works extremely hard on his fitness. He is a terrific guy. I wish him well, but maybe just get away, and take his mind off cricket for a little bit. Maybe that might help him to then focus more on the game he loves. I wish him well,” Lee told News9 in an interview organised by sportsbet.io.
