The legendary India player Virat Kohli amassed a record-breaking 765 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023 for which he was adjourned as the Player of the Tournament title. Kohli’s stellar performance included three centuries and six half-centuries in the recently concluded tournament. Despite his remarkable batting achievements, Kohli experienced defeat in the final as Australia triumphed over India by 6 wickets on Sunday, much to the dismay of millions of cricket fans in the nation. With the anticipation for India’s next major trophy intensifying, Kohli’s supporters are keen to see if the cricket icon will participate in the Men’s upcoming ODI World Cup scheduled for 2027.

A lengthy Facebook post circulating on the internet is serving as a significant diversion for Kohli fans following his World Cup exclusion. According to the post, Kohli’s form is predicted to experience a decline from August 2025 to February 2027 before making a comeback right in time for the World Cup 2027. The viral post originated from a Facebook (Meta) page named “Stars and Astrology” and was shared on the platform in April 2016. The post, authored by an astrologer, outlines various stages of Kohli’s personal and professional life since that time.

“Virat’s career will pick up in 2027 and he will retire on a very high note before March 2028,” the post read.

Earlier Sri Lanka’s former spin legend, Muttiah Muralitharan, suggests that Virat Kohli’s longevity in cricket won’t be determined solely by fitness. Speaking on a podcast hosted by Ranveer Allahbadia, Muralitharan emphasized that factors like eyesight and reflexes also play crucial roles. He mentioned that as a player slows down, their overall performance and effectiveness on the field may be impacted, regardless of their fitness level.

Virat Kohli was selected as Player of the tournament

In the 2023 World Cup final, despite winning the Player of the Tournament with a record-breaking 765 runs, Virat Kohli left the post-match presentation without the customary interview. India’s defeat against Australia in Ahmedabad overshadowed Kohli’s individual achievement. Batting at No. 3, he contributed 54 runs, but India fell short, posting 240 runs.

Australia successfully chased the target with Travis Head’s century. India Cricket Board President Roger Binny presented Kohli with the award, but he walked away, visibly dejected, denying the customary interview. Kohli’s run tally surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record in the 2003 World Cup, where India also lost the final to Australia.
