‘PM ka consolation deserve karta hai ye’ – Fans react as PM Narendra Modi consoles Mohammed Shami after heartbreaking ODI World Cup 2023 loss
Mohammed Shami was one of the biggest positives for Team India in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Following Sunday’s ODI World Cup 2023 final, Indian cricketers Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja uploaded pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi entering the Indian changing room.
The bowler and all-rounder wrote how Team India was devastated to lose to Pat Cummins-led Australia. However, they added that PM Modi lifted their spirits and inspired them. The Indian players, who had won ten straight games, were clearly disappointed not to make it across the finish line. Several team members, including Mohammed Siraj, Captain Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, were unable to control their emotions and started crying.
The star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja posted a picture with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “We had a great tournament but we ended up short yesterday. We are all heartbroken but the support of our people is keeping us going. PM @narendramodi’s visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating.”
The highest wicket-taker of the ODI World Cup 2023, Mohammed Shami also felt devastated after the defeat. He also took to X, to thank the PM Narendra Modi for his kind words. He wrote, “Unfortunately yesterday was not our day. I would like to thank all Indians for supporting our team and me throughout the tournament. Thankful to PM @narendramodi for specially coming to the dressing room and raising our spirits. We will bounce back!”
“I know how hard these guys have worked” : Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India, expressed his disappointment with the players’ behaviour during the World Cup final loss to Australia. Nonetheless, the 50-year-old gave the team credit for their outstanding play up to the semifinals.
The Indian team head coach came for the press conference instead of skipper Rohit Sharma. He said, “There was a lot of emotion in that dressing room. It was tough to see as a coach, because I know how hard these guys have worked, what they’ve put in, the sacrifices they’ve made. So, it’s tough. It’s tough to see that as a coach because you get to know these boys personally.”
