The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season auction is set to take place in Dubai on December 19 for the first time. All ten IPL franchises will be planning their strategies for which players to keep and which to let go ahead of the auction. This will be the first time that the auction will take place outside India. The biggest league in the world has given names to young stars as well.

Ahead of the auction, the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) finished in third place in the last season. Rohit Sharma’s side had some bowling troubles, which caused them to change numerous bowlers during the tournament. As a result, the MI will try to strengthen its squad during the IPL 2024 auction. The England pacer became a liability for the team after leaking runs at a rate of 10.77. Jordan is another player who could be released by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 auction due to his poor performance last season.

Though the bowler has a lot of experience in playing the IPL he has not performed well for the teams of the biggest franchise league. The bowling all-rounder did not get a chance in England who was recently participating in the ODI World Cup 2023.

2. Hrithik Shokeen

Hrithik Shokeen’s role was to assist Piyush Chawla in strengthening MI’s spin-bowling section. In IPL 2023, the off-break bowler appeared in eight matches and got three wickets at an expensive economy of 9.84. Shokeen has been with the franchise since 2022, but he has yet to deliver a great performance with the ball.

Shokeen was sold to MI in the 2022 IPL auction at INR 20 lakhs. He made his IPL debut, taking two wickets in five games with an economy of 8.47. With his dismal bowling performance in the previous two IPL seasons, MI may not be hesitant to cut ways with the young spinner.

Archer joined Mumbai in the IPL 2022 auction for 8 crore INR. MI trusted the England pacer to help their fast-bowling leader Jasprit Bumrah boost their pace attack. Due to an elbow injury, he missed the entire 2022 edition of the T20 competition.

The 28-year-old England speedster appeared in five matches and took only two wickets at a 9.50 economy rate. After the IPL 2023, Archer missed the Ashes and World Cup 2023 due to a recurrence of his elbow injury. He was with the England squad in India doing his rehab and might be back in the side ahead of the 2024 season. The bowler has performed well with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) but since then he has gotten back in form.
