WATCH: Mohammad Rizwan gets involved in a heated argument with Marco Jansen in ODI World Cup 2023
South Africa have started off the match well with wickets at regular intervals.
During Pakistan’s crucial World Cup 2023 match against South Africa, things heated up a bit in the middle of an already hot day at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai between Marco Jansen and Mohammad Rizwan. When the bat-ball fight was at its peak early in the match, it was the Pakistani star who attempted to defuse the tension.
It started in the seventh over as Marco Jansen dropped a difficult return catch. The towering left-arm pacer’s slower delivery proved to be too much for Mohammad Rizwan, who clipped it to the right side of the bowler on his opening delivery of the innings.
After dismissing both of Pakistan’s openers, Mohammad Rizwan attempted to pile pressure on Marco Jansen. He tried to play a reckless lunge to a length ball. After striking the bat’s upper edge, the ball soared to the boundary near the third man area. The top-edge soaring to a boundary infuriated Jansen, who spoke with Rizwan briefly.
At first, Rizwan also returned it, forcing the umpires to speak with the two men in the middle. After bowling a short ball that sailed straight to the wicketkeeper, Jansen became even more enthused. The delivery was delivered with increased tempo, and Rizwan decided not to play.
Jansen approached Rizwan and spoke with him for a little while longer, as if to imply that Rizwan ought to have hit that one with his bat as well. But the Pakistani hitter, who appeared halfway through the batting innings, put an end to the tension.

After the incident, Rizwan became aggressive and ready to take on the South African bowlers. When Pakistan managed to pass 50 runs in the tenth over after sacrificing two early wickets.
It’s worth noting that Jansen delivered two additional deliveries due to no-balls. This was after Abdullah Shafique was removed by a bouncer in the fifth over of the match. This allowed Babar Azam to score without any pressure.
