Indian T20 League 2022: Rajasthan vs Chennai – Match 68 – Preview, Playing XI, Pitch Report & Updates
Rajasthan need a big win to quality as the second ranked team
Rajasthan and Chennai will lock horns at the Brabourne Stadium on May 20. Notably, this is the first and last time both teams are playing each other in the season. This game doesn’t have anything at stake for the Yellow Army but the inaugural winners have a lot to play for. If they win, they will jump to the second spot in the points table and finish in that position.
The reason for that is their superior Net Run Rate of (0.304) in comparison to Lucknow (0.251), which is at the second spot after beating Kolkata. The 2008 winners simply need to win the game so that they can play the Qualifier One next week against Gujarat. On the other hand, the Chennai and Lucknow fans will be hoping for the defending champions to end their campaign on a winning note
Team News
Rajasthan:Â The Sanju Samson-led side is assured of a playoff spot thanks to the 16 points they have bagged and a healthy NRR. They would like to finish in the second spot which gives them a chance to have a second chance to qualify for the final if they have a bad day in Qualifier One. The big boost to the team is the availability of their designated finisher, Shimron Hetmyer, who missed out on the last game. In this game, Obed McCoy who was struggling with his injury might have to sit out and Kuldeep Sen might come in.
Key Players:Â
Yashasvi Jaiswal:Â The left-hander has played some useful knocks after making his comeback a few games ago. Also, he has dominated bowling attacks with the supreme stroke play. He could be the key to success for his side with the bat.
Trent Boult:Â The left-arm pacer returned to form with two early wickets against Lucknow. Before that game, he was struggling with the ball. The experienced pacer might carry his newly found form in the next game.
Probable XI:Â Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, James Neesham, Riyan Parag, R Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Sen
Team News
Chennai:Â The four-time winners have had a forgettable season so far. In the 13 games played, they have lost nine which is the highest in the team’s history in any season. The injuries to Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne has hurt them in the pace bowling department. Apart from this, the indifferent form of batters such Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayadu, and all-rounder Rabindra Jadeja has made their job tough as a team.
Key Players:Â
Devon Conway:Â The opening batter hit three fifties after his comeback a few games ago. In the last game, he couldn’t carry his form but has immense ability to provide great starts to the team. He could be the one to watch out for.
Matheesha Pathirana:Â The young pacer impressed everyone in the debut against Gujarat. Regarded as ‘Junior Malinga’, he can create discomforts to the batters with the his slingy action. He might make his mark in the next game.
Probable XI:Â Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, N Jagadeesan, Shivam Dube, Mitchell Santner, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Matheesha Pathirana, Simarjeet Singh, Prashant Solanki, Mukesh Choudhary.

Pitch Report:Â The last game at the venue between Rajasthan and Chennai saw spinners getting help from the surface. Notably, the dew wasn’t an influence in the game. The conditions might remain the same and the team would like to bat first given that run scoring might become difficult in the second innings.
