In the second T20I of the five-match series, West Indies beat India by two wickets. In a nail-biting thriller, Akeal Hossain and Alzari Joseph clinched a fantastic victory for the hosts. With this victory, the West Indies became the first team to beat India in two consecutive T20Is after seven years.

After winning the toss, India skipper Hardik Pandya opted to bat first. His decision didn’t go well for the team, as the visitors lost two wickets for just 18 runs. Opener Shubman Gill’s poor form continued as he scored just 7 runs off 9 balls with the help of a six. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav failed to capitalise on the opportunity again, as he was run out after scoring just one run.

After their departure, wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma added 42 runs for the third wicket. Kishan scored 27 runs off 23 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, Tilak continued his amazing performance as he scored a brilliant half-century. In his maiden 50+ innings, Tilak scored 51 runs off 41 balls with the help of five fours and a six. Apart from him, not a single batter looked comfortable as India posted a competitive total of 152/7 in 20 overs.

India failed to dismiss tail-enders to win the game

Chasing 150+ The West Indies got the worst possible start. They lost their first two wickets for just two runs in the very first over. India skipper Hardik Pandya dismissed Brandon King and Jason Charles for ducks and two runs, respectively. After their departure, wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran and Kyle Mayers added 30 runs for the third wicket. Mayers, in his inning, scored 15 runs off seven balls with the help of two fours and a six.

After his departure, Rovman Powell joined Pooran and added 57 runs for the fourth wicket. Powell, in his innings, scored 21 runs off 19 balls before getting dismissed by Pandya. However, when the West Indies looked comfortable winning the game, ace Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bowled an amazing over. In the 16th over of the run chase, Chahal gave just two runs and took three wickets, including a run-out.

He dismissed well-set Shimron Hetmyer and Jason Holder, while Romario Shepherd got run out while trying to steal two runs. However, the Windies had something different in mind as Alzari Joseph and Akeal Hossain added 26 runs for the ninth wicket to win the game. With this victory, the hosts have taken a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
